The community waste collection campaign organised by civic activists in R. K. Nagar in R. A. Puram encouraged people of this area and around to get rid of waste easily.
Held on March 8 and 9, with a parking lot used as the collection point which was open through the day, people came by to drop off the waste in boxes and bags.
Seen in the waste were many small, used medical accessories, useless RO systems and liquor bottles.
Residents of areas around R A Puram and Mylapore could drop off the waste at the collection counter. This campaign is held from time to time in collaboration with a private agency which recycles most waste.
