Unexpected rain even across Mylapore zone

The steady, unexpected heavy rain on Wednesday morning (April 16) saw water flowing down in all the streets of Mylapore zone.

Shoppers on South Mada Street said the rainwater from all sides flowed rapidly down the street, with the flow from the temple side fairly strong.

Vegetable hawkers on the street were stranded and had to seek refuge under the umbrellas they use to protect themselves from the harsh sun the past few days.

But on Sundareswarar Street, flooding took place and guardians of junior school students who had to pick up their children on cycles had to negotiate rain water here.

Local people wondered why the flooding was happening when drains had been relaid recently.
