Two competitions have been launched for Madras Day 2026 celebrations in August. Both are promoted by Mylapore Times.
The first is a project that requires school teams to study two local streets with lots of character – be it in a bazaar or shopping zone, or in a heritage area or in a residential square. The teams will then present the study at a ‘live’ event on August 10 at Ranade Library in Luz. The best three teams win trophies and prizes. This event has been on for some 15 years now.
The second competition is open for students of architecture. Teams of these colleges have to choose 2/3 streets with character and study them from various angles that include architecture, street life, signages and all. They will then present their study at a ‘live’ event on August 10 evening at Ranade Library in Luz. The best three teams win prizes. This event has been introduced for the first timMadrase.
A third Madras Day event will be the Madras Quiz for Tamil medium schools of the city. Planned for August 11 at Ranade Library, Luz.
Details of these events and others planned by various city groups/clubs/ institutions are posted at www.themadrasday.in as and when the events are firmed up.
