Traditional evening street food culture in Mylapore continues to thrive quietly, with small-scale vendors drawing steady local patronage.
One such example is a Madurai Paruthi Paal cart operating at Venkatesa Agraharam.
The cart is run by Hussain Basha, who says he has been in this business for over a year. It functions daily between 6.30 p.m. and 10.00 p.m., serving traditional Paruthi Paal
Basha said he was inspired by his uncle, who was also engaged in the same trade.
“We have sales of up to 90 glasses on a good day,” Basha said.
Vikram is a regular customer. He says he is here for the taste and the perceived health value.
