A new gymnasium for women has been opened in Mandavelipakkam, on 4th Trust Link Street.
Mylapore MLA and state minister P. Venkataramanan formally opened the gym which has been funded from the Mayor’s fund and the councillor’s ward development fund. The local councillor is Amirda Varshini of ward 126.
The compact space is fitted with modern equipment, is air-conditioned and has a washroom.
Women of the area are drawing up plans for its use. Said Sheila D’ Souza, a resident, “We are looking for a trainer who can guide us to use the equipment in the proper manner.”
