Indiane Gas consumers suffer as they go through e-KYC process at local agency

The e-KYC process that has been initiated by Indian Oil Corporation for Indane Gas is utterly chaotic, at least at the South Madras Gas Agency, Tiruvengadam Street, Mandaveli, say residents.

Long queues of senior citizens, some 80+ in age and people with disabilities have been forced to make it to the agency’s office to go through the process.

Here are the issues: as listed by residents of this area

1. There is nobody to direct people where to go and what the process is.
2. The process of linking the Aadhar number to gas connection number/s is something people are not aware of, in spite of the campaign. Many of them come there and find out that it is not linked, and then they have to go out to take a copy of their Aadhar and present it to the agency.

3. Post this, the linking has to take place at the agency’s office but often the servers are slow, and the linking happens the next day. So consumers have to spend lot of time on this.
4. Consumers complain that they are made to buy the gas tube, which costs ₹190.  Nobody seems to know why this service is being pushed.
