The promoter of the legendary Sri Mylai Karpagambal Mess in Mylapore, Soundararajan passed away on Sept.15 and his funeral was held today.
He managed the popular restaurant on East Mada Street till some years ago after which he handed over the reins to his son Prabhu and retired.
What was once a ‘homely’ eat out located in a street house of the east 1900s, offering traditional snacks and tiffin, this Mess was a huge draw, with clients from all over the city and tourists dining here.
Some years ago, the old house was pulled down and a multi-storeyed building was constructed.
