Every year, veteran tennis players and that means veterans who take this sport seriously come together to compete at the T S Santhanam Memorial National Tennis Championships for Veterans in the city.
The key matches are played at the Mylapore Club courts in Luz. This tourney, held under the auspices of AITA and TNTA draws players from the city and outside and matches are keenly fought as they were this year.
The finals in various age categories were held last weekend and these were the winners in the singles –
Rameaz ( 45yrs plus), E P S Meghanathan ( 50 yrs plus), M Suresh ( 55 yrs plus), A J S Chatwal (60 yrs plus) and Dr T Balachander ( 65 yrs plus).
Doubles was also played in this tournament.
