Rasikas are hosting in Chennai a celebration of the mridangam legend, Padmasri C.S.Murugabhoopathi on 16th Feb.16 at Raga Sudha Hall, Luz. This is his centenary year.
Along with Palghat Mani Iyer and Palani Subramania Pillai he completed the Mridangam Trinity of the golden era of Carnatic music, says Bangalore-based Lalitha Ram who is part of the hosts.
The agenda of the centenary function is as follows:
5 p.m.- A listening session anchored by K.S.Kalidas
5.30 p.m.- Speeches by the guests of honour – T.N.Seshagopalan and Vikku Vinayakaram.
6.15 – A special tribute concert by T.N.Seshagopalan, Vid. Nagai Sriram, Vid. R.Ramesh and Vid. Sree Sundarkumar.
