Panguni festival: preparations on round the clock for events ahead

On Day 2 (March 11) of the Panguni Festival, kodiyetram (flag hoisting) took place at 6.40 a.m.

The chief priests hoisted the flag at the kodimaram in front of Sri Kapaleeshwarar Sannidhi.

Hundreds of devotees started pouring inside the temple during the Kodiyetram ceremony.

Later, pancha murthy purapadu took place at 9 a.m.Donors of Sri Vidya Nilayam in North Mada Street served sambhar rice to the devotees during the purapadu.

Back at Sri Kapali Temple preparations were going on for the rituals ahead. Volunteers polished the Surya vattam vahanam for tomorrow’s procession at 8.30 a.m.

Elsewhere, at the area opposite to temple office the donors of silver Adikara Nandi were polishing the 102-year-old Adikara Nandi vahanam with great care.

At around 5 p.m.,Lakshmi Ram and her family served tea, carrot halwa and masala vada to the temple volunteers and workers.

Yagasalai pooja took place at 6 p.m. The mud for the same was brought from P. S. High School, R.K.Mutt Road (mritsangrahanam)

Pancha murti purapadu will take place today ( Monday) at 10 p.m., where Sri Somaskandar, goddess Karpagambal and Sri Muruga will be taken out in the punnai maram vahanam, karpaga mara vahanam and vengai mara vahanam respectively.
