Vedantha Desikar moves to Kannadi Arai on Tuesday evening ahead of 10 day Avathara Utsavam

Leading up to the ten day annual Avathara Utsavam, Vaishnavite Acharya Vedantha Desikar made his way from his Sannidhi to the Kannidi Arai on Tuesday evening. Unmindful of the heavy rain that lashed Mylapore in the evening, the Sripatham Thangis devotionally carried the Lord on their shoulders from Desikar’s Sannidhi around the temple complex to the Kannidi Arai at 8pm.

After the morning and evening processions inside the temple, Vedantha Desikar will be at the Kannidi Arai through the ten days of the utsavam.

The utsavam starts on Wednesday morning with a Pallakku procession at 7am. This will be immediately followed by recital of the sacred verses.

On Friday morning, the third day utsavam, Srinivasa Perumal on a Garuda Vahana and Vedantha Desikar on a Golden Kedayam will go on a procession inside the temple. Devotees will be able to have darshan from outside the temple complex as they are not allowed inside the temple Friday to Sunday as per the current lockdown restrictions.
