The Ambedkar Mantapam in R A Puram was a busy place since Friday morning as it was the celebration of B R Ambedkar’s birth anniversary.
A big posse of police were on guard to ward off any attempts to create trouble since, in the past there were some attempts by fringe groups to stage their own show here.
Chief minister M K Stalin and some of the state ministers came by to offer respects here. Leader of the VCK party, Thol Thirumalvalavan was present too.
Lots of people visited ; some complained that the place was not properly shaded for this event and even drinking water was in short supply on a hot Friday.
