Chennai Corporation has plans to construct multi-storeyed parking lots in its properties in R. A. Puram and in Alwarpet.
It intends to re-develop the shopping complexes on the north end of C. P. Ramaswamy Road and on 3rd Cross Road, R A Puram and build parking lots as well as complexes for offices and shops.
Both these complexes have vacant spaces on their first and second floors, which are not maintained well by the civic body and hence, does not appeal to people seeking office space.
The ground floor spaces are always in demand though since retail business and shopping is active in both areas.
In both areas, people park on both sides of the roads because there are lots of shops, banks, general stores and restaurants here.
