The Aam Admi Party (AAP) has declared Jahir Hussain as its candidate for the Chennai South constituency for the General Elections. This was made public on Wednesday after long deliberations. Jahir is known to be a dedicated community activist and was deeply involved in the India Against Corruption (IAC) movement of Anna Hazare, taking part in the campaign in the city.
He founded, along with others the Satta Panchayat Iyakkam, which helps people to get their work done at state government offices without resorting to bribery.
A large section of the Mylapore area falls under Chennai South.
