Vocalist Gayathri Girish to present saint Thyagaraja theme-based concerts

Different innovations are being tried out by several Carnatic musicians. These include
thematic concerts, lecture-demonstrations, exclusive RTP concerts and introduction
of new compositions.

Senior vocalist Gayathri Girish has presented her ideas on the concert stage. She successfully completed twelve episodes on ‘Myriad Forms of Lord Siva’ under the ministry of culture’s production grant. Several
themes have subsequently been presented by her in this format, including Sri Adi
Sankara, Arupadai Veedu, Papanasam Sivan, Siva-Sakti etc.

On August 24 and 25 , she will present another theme ‘Sri Tyagaraja Namaste’ at Tattvaloka Auditorium, Eldams Road, Alwarpet. This twin- concert idea is based on the Vitanka Sthalas of Sri Somaskanda Tyagesamurti. Many of these shrines except in Tiruvarur, Tamil Nadu are not widely known. There is a multimedia presentation alongside.

Gayathri says intense research on the theme, collection and assimilation of a large variety of information and presenting them in an interesting manner makes such theme-based concerts engaging.

Open to all. August 24 and 25, 5 p.m. daily.
